Will Smith Tampar Chris Rock di Atas Panggung Piala Oscar 2022
Ajang Academy Awards Ke-94 atau yang juga dikenal sebagai Piala Oscar 2022 yang digelar di Dolby Theater, Los Angeles, Minggu (27/3/2022) menyita perhatian dibandingkan gelaran-gelaran sebelumnya berkat tamparan dan makian aktor Will Smith kepada komedian Chris Rock.
IDWS, Senin, 28 Maret 2022 - Chris Rock yang saat itu bertindak sebagai salah satu host, berkelakar bahwa istri Will Smith, Jada Pinket Smith bisa berperan dalam sekuel film "G.I. Jane" di mana aktris Demi Moore yang berperan di film "G.I. Jane" juga berambut gundul. Rambut Jada sendiri gundul karena penyakit alopecia.
Will Smith kemudian berjalan ke atas panggung dan kemudian menampar Chris Rock dengan cukup keras sebelum kemudian kembali ke kursinya. Mereka yang hadir secara langsung di venue maupun pemirsa yang menyaksikan lewat siaran streaming atau televisi mungkin pada awalnya mengira bahwa kejadian itu merupakan skenario yang sudah disiapkan sejak awal.
Akan tetapi suasana ceria penuh tawa di Dolby Theater kemudian menjadi awkward ketika Will Smith kemudian menyumpahi Chris Rock dengan kasar dan lantang. "Get my wife name out of your f**king mouth!" (jauhkan nama istri saya dari mulutmu) teriak aktor Indepence Day itu setidaknya dua kali.
Chris Rock kemudian membalas "Okay...ini adalah malam terbaik dalam sejarah televisi," yang disambut tawa dari mereka yang hadir.
Waktu berlalu dan Will Smith kembali naik ke panggung setelah namanya diumumkan sebagai pemenang Oscar untuk kategori aktor terbaik berkat aktingnya di film "King Richard" — penghargaan Oscar pertamanya — dan ia lalu meminta maaf kepada pihak Academy Awards atas insiden tamparannya ke Chris Rock sebelumnya.
