IDWS, Selasa, 14 Januari 2020 - Nominasi penghargaan Oscar tahun ini telah diumumkan. Joker memimpin dengan 11 nominasi, termasuk di antaranya kategori Best Picture, Best Director (Sutradara Terbaik), dan Best Actor. Di belakang Joker ada The Irishman, 1917, dan Once Upon a Time in Hollywood dengan 10 nominasi.

Film Korea yang jadi sensasi, Parasite, juga cukup menanjak dan masuk dalam nominasi untuk kategori Best International Film, Best Picture, Best Director, dan Best Original Screenplay.

Total, ada 9 judul film yang masuk nominasi film terbaik (Best Picture): Ford V Ferrari, The Irishman, Jojo Rabbit, Joker, Little Women, Marriage Story, 1917, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, dan Parasite.

Seperti yang sudah diprediksi sebelumnya, pemeran Arthur Fleck dalam Joker, Joaquin Phoenix, juga dijagokan untuk menjadi aktor terbaik. Phoenix akan bersaing dengan Leonardo DiCaprio (Once Upon Time in Hollywood), Adam Driver (Marriage Story), Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory), dan Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes).

Sedangkan nominasi untuk Aktris Terbaik ada nama-nama seperti Cynthia Erivo (Harriert), Scarlett Johansson (Marriage Story), Charlize Theron (Bombshell) dan Renee Zellwegger (Judy).
